The coastline of the Riviera Maya, Mexico's Caribbean, is often referred to as the birthplace of humanity. Like many parts of the world, there are sacred things. This new life coming out of the rocks is that of an indigenous palm tree only found in this area and to this day is a protected plant. You can't cut them down. Do don't buy land with these trees on it!  You may never get to use it.
